We make video games with dodge rolls. Enter the Gungeon was our first, then Exit the Gungeon with Singlecore, and soon House of the Gundead with Griffin Aerotech.
What goes down, must shoot up in a flurry or bullets. In collaboration with Singlecore Game studio and its old pals at Devolver Digital, Dodge Roll released Exit the Gungeon exclusively to Apple Arcade in 2019 and in 2020 extended to Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. Exit the Gungeon is a spin-off of Dodge Roll’s wildly successful inaugural game and expands the Gungeonverse with new weapons, enemies and, most importantly, hats. The Gungeon remains a bullet hell dungeon, but this time misfits Gungeoneers are forced to escape it.
Immediately following the Enter the Gungeon journey, shooting the Gun that Kills the Past has turned the Gungeon into a collapsing time-space paradox. Each misfit Gungeoneer follows a rogelike-lite ascension through perilous elevators and bitter Gundead foes with their dodge roll skills, an armory of ever-changing guns, and an insatiable desire for loot. Each run is a unique battle on shifting platforms that are made more frantic because of a Sorceress who “blesses” you with an array of unique guns that change every few seconds. Exit the Gungeon is a challenging battle for personal absolution and each must find their own route out.
